What Is Included

For only $1500 the Jeep experts at Axleboy will professionally upgrade your TJ or JK Wrangler’s gear ratio by installing:

  • New quality ring and pinion gears in both front and rear differentials (4.10, 4.56 or 4.88 ratio available).
  • New crush sleeves.
  • New pinion nuts.
  • Pinion bearing kits.
  • Fresh shims.

Important Notes

It is important to note that Jeeps with a factory 3.21 ratio will require a new carrier (additional cost of $101). If your Jeep has the factory 3.73 ratio, the carrier should accommodate any of the gear ratios included in this special.  In addition, following any re-gear, it is important to re-calibrate speedometer and shift points using a Pro-Cal device or something similar.  Not doing so may cause your Jeep to go into limp mode.  Axleboy provides recalibration and a VIN specific module for an additional $184.94, in situations where a Jeep is not already equipped.  New axle bearings and seals are recommended for an additional $175.  For ideal quality and optimal performance we highly recommend installation of a Master Rebuild/Overhaul Kit which includes all new carrier bearings and races along with new pinion seals, axle seals, ring gear bolts, pinion nut, thread locker, a complete shim kit and a fresh differential gasket. Re-ratio with installation of  master overhaul kits start at $1875 per Jeep.

Daily Responsibilities:

We are a FULL service automotive maintenance and repair shop specializing in suspension and drivetrain components.  This means that our employees must be versatile enough to re-gear a differential, install a lift kit (we do a lot of this), diagnose electrical issues, weld and even change oil and balance tires once in a while.  In no way is this a comprehensive list of responsibilities, but it should give you an idea of what we do.

Quite frankly, bigger tires go over bigger rocks.  Bigger engines deliver more power to climb, crawl and roll.  And if you’ve ever been stuck in a ditch, you know just how valuable a good sized winch can be.

Like most things in life, there is a certain amount of trade-off when deciding how you want your jeep to look and ride.  Incidentally, those bigger tires and a bigger engine also create more drag and suck down more gas than similar stock Jeeps…but you didn’t buy a Jeep based on fuel economy.

This gives your vehicle just a little more ground clearance and enough durability that you won’t have to worry about puncturing the tires when you roll over small rocks and branches.
